Industrial Design

These are two of my project boards from my design studies at Western Washington University.

The first is of a flip-flop design which was created from foam. The design went through a series of reiterations which finally came to trying to simplify the design for ease of creation. The idea is that the straps for the shoe would be constructed from the scraps on or potential inside layers of the shoe. The rectangle comes from trying to create without waste. Although these probably would not be the most practical for walking perhaps they could be used in instances of a spa or on a cruise ship where not much walking is being done.

The second board contains a Spork design challenge. Unlike a well known spork, this challenge demanded a knife also be present on the design. The image at the top of the board is my first attempt and then the one that is shown in hand and at the bottom is my refinement.  I was trying to go again with simplicity and keeping all of the tools as compact as possible.
